Remediation Alternatives Analysis
We leverage the high-resolution data and analysis from the Site Characterization phase to perform a detailed financial and operational analysis of remedial alternatives. The analysis includes:
- Defined Quality Objectives for the successful remediation of the site.
- Description of the potential approaches for remediating the site.
- A comprehensive financial and operational analyses of multiple remediation alternatives to determine which approach is best for the project. Evaluation criteria for each approach include:
- The projected total cost.
- The expected remediation quality.
- The time to completion.
- The degree of difficulty.
- The level of risk.
- The likelihood of regulatory approval.
- The objectives and concerns of key stakeholders.
Employing a multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) approach, we recommend a selection of remediation approaches that will satisfy the remediation requirements and meet client business objectives. In addition, we typically identify potential cost savings of 20 to 40 percent over traditional remediation methods.

- The Technologies Selected to execute the remediation. For example:
- Bioremediation: Using microorganisms to degrade organic contaminants.
- Soil Vapor Extraction and Enhanced Biostimulation: Removing volatile contaminants from soil.
- In Situ Chemical Oxidation: Injecting oxidants to destroy contaminants in place.
- In-situ or ex-situ thermal remediation.
- Excavation and Disposal: Removing contaminated soil for off-site treatment or disposal.
- The Regulatory Approach for acquiring required permits and approvals, complying with environmental regulations and standards, and supporting necessary regulatory filings.
