Field Geochemist – North America

COLUMBIA Technologies is seeking Geologists, Geochemists, Scientists, and Engineers for its field services division to support its project growth in North America.   We are an environmental services company focused on assessing contaminated land to support their sustainable restoration.  We employ various innovative field technologies and the best information science to deliver results to our global customers in real-time.

Join our team and help create a cleaner, more sustainable future!

Field Geochemist / Senior Field Geochemist

Position Duties and Responsibilities

You will have a front-line role in our environmental site assessments of contaminated land and facilities.

As a Junior or Senior-Level Field Geochemist, you will assume a high degree of individual accountability with minimal supervision. Working with other team members and clients, you are responsible for the accurate collection of hydrochemical, geochemical, and biochemical data at environmentally contaminated sites using the latest state-of-the-art direct sensing analytical instruments.
During your time with us, you will travel to engage directly with various clients and stakeholders to understand better the impact of underground chemical pollution on facilities and communities.  You will be responsible for the maintenance and operation of a vehicle, analytical testing, and computer equipment.  Your daily activities will require understanding and integrating geology, chemistry, biology, information, and mechanical systems.

The minimum qualifications for this
position are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering from a four-year college, university, or equivalent military training.
  • Strong academic background in mathematics and environmental chemistry or geology.
  • THIS IS A TRAVEL POSITION.  You will work from your home and travel to destinations in the U.S. and internationally.

The ideal candidate will have good writing and communication skills, demonstrated problem-solving skills, and experience with equipment operation and maintenance.  This is an opportunity for unique individuals to enter a highly visible position at the forefront of high-resolution remedial site characterization and monitoring.  You will need to be a quick learner, highly organized, have a “can-do” attitude, and be able to work independently right from the start.  However, intensive training will be provided during your onboarding time.
Competitive candidates for the Senior-Level position should have a minimum of 2-4 years of related field experience.  Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience in environmental consulting,  direct sensing (MIP/LIF/OIP/HPT/CPT), and Geoprobe operation. Experience in drilling and other sampling methods would be beneficial.  Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese is a plus.
COLUMBIA offers a full benefits package, including medical, dental, disability insurance, a retirement plan, and unlimited personal time off (PTO).
